Our salubrious vines are the source of delicious wines

With rich farming heritage, Doug and Sue Lund brought their young family to The Crags in 2006, planting new vineyards, building a tasting room and creating inspiring places and spaces.

Their first harvest in 2012 yielded some of the most unblemished grapes any farmer is ever likely to see. Prioritising quality over quantity, they pay meticulous attention to detail, use organic fertilisers and even taking the unusual step of using netting over their vines.

Award-winning winemaker, Anton Smal, has put the grapes to excellent use, producing Newstead’s Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, as well as white and pink MCC bubblies.

These are available on Newstead’s website, or from the estate itself, which you can also visit for some of the most talked about meals in Plett. Tastings don’t need to be booked but lunches, sunset bubbles andoysters do.Newstead is open from Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 4pm.
